Description

This refreshing Watermelon Cocktail is a perfect summer drink combining fresh watermelon puree, lime juice, and vodka, balanced with simple syrup to taste. Ideal for a quick and easy cocktail that highlights the natural sweetness and juiciness of watermelon, garnished beautifully with watermelon balls and lime segments for a vibrant, delightful presentation.

Ingredients

For the Cocktail

  • 2 heaping cups of watermelon chunks
  • 1/2 cup watermelon juice (from cutting the melon)
  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
  • Simple syrup to taste (approx. 1-2 tablespoons)
  • 1/2 to 1 cup vodka (depending on desired strength)
  • Ice

For Garnish

  • Watermelon balls or triangles
  • Lime segments

Instructions

  1. Puree the watermelon: Place watermelon chunks and the watermelon juice into a blender and blend until completely smooth to create a fresh watermelon puree.
  2. Add lime and sweetness: Add the fresh lime juice and simple syrup into the blender and pulse a few times to combine. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness by adding more simple syrup if needed.
  3. Add vodka: Pour in 1/2 cup of vodka and pulse the mixture again. Taste and adjust both sweetness and strength by adding more simple syrup or vodka as preferred.
  4. Prepare the glass: Fill tall glasses with ice cubes to chill the drink and keep it refreshing.
  5. Serve and garnish: Pour the prepared watermelon cocktail over the ice in each glass, then garnish with watermelon balls or triangles and lime segments for a colorful and festive look. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Simple syrup can be prepared by dissolving equal parts sugar and water over low heat; use to balance sweetness.
  • Adjust the amount of vodka to control the cocktail's strength based on personal preference.
  • If watermelon juice is not available, increase the amount of watermelon chunks for blending.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit vodka and add extra watermelon juice or soda water for fizz.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor; bottled lime juice may alter the taste.
