Description

This Tropical Turmeric Smoothie combines the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric with the natural sweetness of tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, and banana. Blended with creamy coconut or almond milk and a hint of warm spices, it's a refreshing and healthful drink perfect for breakfast or a nutritious snack.

Ingredients

Golden Milk Base

  • 16 to 18 ounces (2+ cups) coconut or almond milk (plain and unsweetened)
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons to 1 tablespoon honey, maple syrup, or agave (adjust to your liking)

Fruits

  • 1 small banana (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 to 1-1/2 cups diced pineapple or papaya (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup diced mango (fresh or frozen)

Optional Garnish and Add-ins

  • Fresh mint to garnish
  • Protein powder (optional)
  • Chia seeds (optional)
  • Flax seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew the Golden Milk: Combine the coconut or almond milk, turmeric, ground ginger, black pepper, and sweetener in a small saucepan or stock pot. Bring the mixture to a quick boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 5 minutes, whisking continuously until well blended.
  2. Cool the Mixture: Remove the saucepan from heat. Let the golden milk cool to room temperature, or speed up the process by placing it in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes.
  3. Prepare the Smoothie: Add the banana, diced pineapple or papaya, and mango into a blender. Pour the cooled golden milk on top. If desired, incorporate optional add-ins such as protein powder, chia seeds, or flax seeds for additional nutrition.
  4. Blend and Serve: Blend the mixture until it reaches a smooth consistency. Serve immediately garnished with fresh mint if desired, or pour into cups and refrigerate for serving later.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sweetener according to your taste preference or dietary needs.
  • Use frozen fruit to achieve a thicker, colder smoothie texture without adding ice.
  • Golden milk can be brewed fresh or prepared in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • The pinch of black pepper enhances the absorption of turmeric’s active compounds.
  • Optional add-ins like protein powder, chia, or flax seeds boost the nutritional profile of the smoothie.
