Ingredients
Meatloaf
- 1 slice leftover meatloaf
Cheese
- 2 slices American cheese
Bread and Condiments
- 2 slices white bread
- 1 teaspoon mayonnaise
- ¼ teaspoon mustard
Additional Toppings
- Lettuce leaves (amount as desired)
- Pickles (amount as desired)
Instructions
- Slice Meatloaf: Cut a thick slice from your leftover meatloaf to use for the sandwich.
- Heat Meatloaf: Warm the meatloaf slice in a small non-stick skillet over low to medium heat, turning once or twice, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) to ensure it’s safely reheated.
- Toast Bread: While the meatloaf heats, toast your slices of white bread to your preferred level of crispness.
- Melt Cheese: Place the American cheese slices on top of the warmed meatloaf in the skillet and allow them to melt thoroughly.
- Assemble Sandwich: Spread mayonnaise on one side of each bread slice. On one slice, layer the lettuce, melted meatloaf with cheese, mustard, and pickles. Top with the second slice of bread, mayonnaise side down, to complete the sandwich.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the meatloaf is heated to a safe temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- You can substitute white bread with whole wheat or any favorite bread.
- Add extra toppings like tomatoes or onions for more flavor.
- Leftover meatloaf slices should be refrigerated and consumed within 3-4 days for safety.
