Ingredients
Shrimp Preparation
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined (450g)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Cooking
- ½ tablespoon olive oil
Cajun Butter
- 2 tablespoons room temperature butter
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced or grated
- 1 tablespoon cilantro or parsley leaves, minced
- 1 ½ teaspoons homemade Cajun seasoning
- Salt, as needed
Instructions
- Prepare the shrimp: Place the shrimp in a colander, toss with ¼ teaspoon salt, and let sit for 1 minute. Then rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them very dry with paper towels to ensure they cook evenly.
- Make flavored butter: In a small bowl, combine the room temperature butter with minced garlic, chopped cilantro or parsley, and Cajun seasoning. Mix everything thoroughly and set aside for use during cooking.
- Cook the shrimp: Heat the olive oil in a wide skillet over medium heat. Spread the shrimp in a single layer in the pan—it’s fine if some overlap slightly. Cook for about 1 minute or until the shrimp start turning pink on the edges.
- To finish: Lower the heat to medium-low and add the prepared Cajun butter to the skillet. Stir continuously to coat the shrimp evenly with the butter mixture. Continue cooking and stirring for another 1 to 2 minutes until the shrimp are fully opaque and firm to the touch.
