Ingredients
Proteins
- 6 strips of bacon, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 package andouille sausage, sliced diagonally into 1/2 inch pieces
- 1 lb uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
Vegetables
- 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 orange bell pepper, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
Oils & Fats
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil (or cooking oil of choice)
- 2 tablespoons butter
Seasonings
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
- 2 teaspoons all purpose seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Cook Bacon and Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add avocado oil and cook the chopped bacon and andouille sausage until browned and crisp, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Season and Cook Shrimp: Toss shrimp with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and lemon pepper seasoning. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook on each side for 60 seconds. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside with the bacon and sausage.
- Sauté Vegetables: Reserve about 1 teaspoon of the remaining grease from the bacon, sausage, and shrimp in the skillet. Add butter, then toss in sliced onion and bell peppers. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent. Add minced garlic and stir to combine.
- Cook Cabbage: Add chopped cabbage to the skillet. Reduce heat to medium-low and cover the skillet with a lid. Let cabbage wilt for about 10-12 minutes. Stir to combine the cabbage and peppers, then add all-purpose seasoning, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Replace the lid and cook on low for an additional 5 minutes to blend flavors.
- Combine and Serve: Remove the lid and add back the cooked bacon, sausage, and shrimp. Stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly. Serve the dish over rice, with cornbread, or enjoy on its own. ENJOY!
