Description
This Slow Cooker Crockpot Boneless Turkey Breast recipe delivers tender, juicy, and flavorful turkey with minimal effort. Perfect for Thanksgiving or any day you want a hassle-free turkey meal, this method uses simple seasonings and slow cooking to lock in moisture and taste. Optional finishing in an air fryer or under the broiler crisps the skin beautifully.
Ingredients
Turkey and Seasoning
- 3 pound boneless turkey breast (bone-in can be used as well)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (regular paprika is acceptable)
- 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Additional Ingredients
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Prepare the turkey breast: Pat the turkey breast dry thoroughly. Sprinkle garlic powder, smoked paprika, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper over the turkey. Rub the spices evenly into both sides to ensure complete coverage. Add more seasoning if necessary for full flavor.
- Set up the slow cooker: Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the slow cooker. Add the sliced onions into the broth. Place the seasoned turkey breast on top of the broth and onions. Place the unsalted butter on top of the turkey to enhance moisture and flavor during cooking.
- Cook the turkey: Cover and cook on Low for 3 to 4 hours. Use a meat thermometer to check internal temperature, making sure it reaches at least 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
- Remove and rest: Carefully remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker, as it will be very tender and may fall apart. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute.
- Optional crisping step: For crispy skin, place the turkey breast in an air fryer at 400°F for 3-4 minutes or alternatively, broil in the oven for 3-5 minutes. This adds a satisfying crisp texture to the exterior.
Notes
- Always thaw the turkey breast completely before cooking to ensure even cooking.
- Feel free to customize the seasoning based on your preferences or favorite rubs.
- Turkey breast netting holds the meat together during cooking. Removing it before cooking may cause the turkey to fall apart; if removed, you can use toothpicks to hold it together.
- If you prefer simplicity, keep the netting on during cooking and remove after if desired.
