Description

A simple and vibrant passion fruit coulis made with fresh passion fruit pulp and sugar, gently simmered to create a luscious sauce. Perfect as a topping for desserts, yogurt, or pancakes, this recipe is quick and easy to prepare with just two ingredients.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 10 passion fruit
  • 2 tbsp white sugar (caster sugar recommended)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the passion fruit: Slice the passion fruit open and use a small spoon to scoop out all the pulp, including the seeds, into a saucepan.
  2. Simmer the coulis: Add 2 tablespoons of white sugar to the saucepan with the passion fruit pulp. Place on low to medium heat and bring the mixture to a light simmer, ensuring it does not boil hard. Stir frequently to help thicken the sauce, simmering for 10-12 minutes.
  3. Finish cooking: Once thickened, remove the saucepan from heat. The coulis can be enjoyed warm or left to cool to room temperature.
  4. Optional straining: For a smooth coulis without seeds, strain the sauce through a fine mesh sieve before serving.

Notes

  • Use caster sugar for faster dissolving and a smoother texture.
  • The coulis can be served warm or chilled, depending on your preference.
  • Straining is optional but recommended if you prefer a seedless sauce.
  • Store any leftover coulis in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • This coulis pairs wonderfully with ice cream, pancakes, yogurt, or cheesecake.
