Ingredients
Seeds and Dry Ingredients
- ½ cup chia seeds
- ¼ cup sunflower seeds (raw and unsalted)
- ¼ cup pumpkin seeds (raw and unsalted)
- ¼ cup sesame seeds (white or black)
- ¼ cup ground flaxseeds (flax meal)
- 3 tablespoons hemp seeds (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Kosher salt (or sea salt)
Wet Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (162°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside for later use.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add chia seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, ground flaxseeds, hemp seeds, and salt. Stir well to distribute all the seeds and salt evenly.
- Add Wet Ingredients and Mix: Pour in the olive oil and water into the seed mixture. Mix thoroughly until combined. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes, or until it thickens to a gel-like consistency. Be careful not to let it sit longer than 7–8 minutes, or the crackers may become too thick.
- Spread Mixture on Baking Sheet: Transfer the gelled seed mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Spread it out evenly using an offset spatula or a large spoon. You can also place another piece of parchment paper on top and spread it evenly with your hands or a rolling pin to ensure an even thickness.
- Bake the Crackers: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until the edges of the crackers turn a light brown color. This ensures a crisp texture.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the seed crackers cool completely on the pan. Once cooled, break or cut into pieces and serve as a healthy snack or with your favorite dips.
Notes
- To ensure even baking, spread the seed mixture as thinly and uniformly as possible.
- Store cooled crackers in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
- Hemp seeds are optional but add extra nutrition and a slightly nutty flavor.
- You can customize the seasoning by adding herbs or spices like garlic powder or rosemary for extra flavor.
- The crackers are gluten-free, vegan, and a great source of fiber and healthy fats.
