Description

This Seed Crackers recipe is a wholesome, crunchy snack made from a nutritious blend of chia, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, flax, and hemp seeds. Baked to perfection, these crackers are naturally gluten-free, packed with fiber and healthy fats, and easy to make at home with just a few simple ingredients. Perfect for snacking or pairing with your favorite dips and spreads.

Ingredients

Seeds and Dry Ingredients

  • ½ cup chia seeds
  • ¼ cup sunflower seeds (raw and unsalted)
  • ¼ cup pumpkin seeds (raw and unsalted)
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds (white or black)
  • ¼ cup ground flaxseeds (flax meal)
  • 3 tablespoons hemp seeds (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt (or sea salt)

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (162°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside for later use.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add chia seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, ground flaxseeds, hemp seeds, and salt. Stir well to distribute all the seeds and salt evenly.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients and Mix: Pour in the olive oil and water into the seed mixture. Mix thoroughly until combined. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes, or until it thickens to a gel-like consistency. Be careful not to let it sit longer than 7–8 minutes, or the crackers may become too thick.
  4. Spread Mixture on Baking Sheet: Transfer the gelled seed mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Spread it out evenly using an offset spatula or a large spoon. You can also place another piece of parchment paper on top and spread it evenly with your hands or a rolling pin to ensure an even thickness.
  5. Bake the Crackers: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until the edges of the crackers turn a light brown color. This ensures a crisp texture.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the seed crackers cool completely on the pan. Once cooled, break or cut into pieces and serve as a healthy snack or with your favorite dips.

Notes

  • To ensure even baking, spread the seed mixture as thinly and uniformly as possible.
  • Store cooled crackers in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
  • Hemp seeds are optional but add extra nutrition and a slightly nutty flavor.
  • You can customize the seasoning by adding herbs or spices like garlic powder or rosemary for extra flavor.
  • The crackers are gluten-free, vegan, and a great source of fiber and healthy fats.
