Description

This Pumpkin Whipped Feta is a creamy, flavorful spread combining smooth Greek yogurt, pureed pumpkin, and tangy feta cheese. Enhanced with dried thyme and olive oil, and topped with crispy sage leaves fried in butter, this elegant yet simple dip is perfect for serving with crackers, flatbread, or even potato wedges. Ready in just 5 minutes, it offers a unique autumn-inspired twist on traditional whipped feta.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 150g Greek yogurt
  • 150g pureed pumpkin
  • 120g feta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings

  • 4-5 fresh sage leaves
  • 0.5 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Fry the sage leaves: Heat the butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the sage leaves and fry them for 1-2 minutes until they become crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside to cool.
  2. Blend the base: Combine the Greek yogurt, pureed pumpkin, feta cheese, dried thyme, olive oil, salt, and pepper in a blender. Pulse in short bursts until the mixture is smooth and whipped, being careful not to overblend to maintain a light texture.
  3. Chill the spread (optional): Spoon the whipped feta mixture into a serving bowl and place it in the refrigerator for about an hour to firm up slightly, enhancing the flavors and texture.
  4. Add toppings: Once chilled or immediately if preferred, top the whipped feta with the crispy sage leaves, chopping them if desired. Optionally, add extra crumbled feta, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and a crack of black pepper for garnish.
  5. Serve: Enjoy the pumpkin whipped feta as a dip or spread alongside crackers, flatbread, sourdough, or even potato wedges for a delicious snack or appetizer.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of olive oil and butter to suit your taste preferences.
  • For a vegan version, substitute feta and yogurt with plant-based alternatives.
  • Use fresh pumpkin puree or canned pumpkin puree depending on availability.
  • Frying the sage leaves imparts a wonderful aroma and crunch for contrast.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
