Description
Pineapple Agua Fresca is a refreshing and naturally sweetened Mexican drink made from fresh pineapple, lime juice, and water. This light and vibrant beverage is perfect for hot days, offering a delightful tropical twist with the option to add a touch of maple syrup for extra sweetness. Its easy preparation requires only blending and straining, making it a quick and healthy thirst quencher.
Ingredients
Fruits
- 4 cups fresh pineapple (approximately 1 pineapple, divided)
- ½ cup fresh squeezed lime juice
Liquids
- 6 cups water (divided)
- ⅓ cup maple syrup (optional)
Others
- Ice Cubes, as needed for serving
Instructions
- Blend Pineapple and Water: In a blender or food processor, combine one-third of the pineapple with 2 cups of water. Cover and blend until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Strain the Mixture: Pour the blended pineapple mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove pulp and solids. Discard the solids collected on the sieve to ensure a smooth drink.
- Repeat Blending and Straining: Repeat the blending and straining process two more times with the remaining pineapple and water, adding each strained liquid to the pitcher to combine all the juice portions.
- Add Lime and Sweetener: Stir in the fresh squeezed lime juice and maple syrup (if using) into the pitcher. Mix well to evenly distribute the flavors throughout the agua fresca.
- Serve Over Ice: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the pineapple agua fresca over the ice. Serve immediately to enjoy a refreshing, cool beverage.
Notes
- Use ripe and sweet fresh pineapple for the best natural flavor.
- The maple syrup is optional; you can adjust or omit based on your sweetness preference.
- For a smoother drink, ensure thorough straining to remove pulp.
- Keep refrigerated if not serving immediately and consume within 1-2 days for freshness.
