Description

This Oven Roasted Boneless Turkey Breast recipe offers a perfectly seasoned and juicy turkey breast with herb-infused butter. Roasted to golden perfection in the oven, it's an ideal main dish for family dinners or holiday gatherings, delivering tender, flavorful meat every time.

Ingredients

Butter Herb Mixture

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ teaspoon thyme (dried or fresh, finely chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon oregano (dried or fresh, finely chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Main Ingredient

  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 boneless skin-on turkey breast (4-5 pounds), defrosted, rinsed, and patted dry

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350˚F (175˚C) to prepare for roasting the turkey.
  2. Prepare Herb Butter: In a small mixing bowl, combine softened unsalted butter with oregano, thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder. Use a fork to mix until the seasoning is evenly incorporated.
  3. Season Turkey: Evenly rub 1 tablespoon of salt all over the turkey breast, ensuring good coverage for flavor enhancement.
  4. Apply Butter Mixture: Carefully lift the skin from the turkey breast using the back of a spoon or your fingers. Spread half of the butter herb mixture directly underneath the skin onto the meat. Then, spread the remaining butter mixture on the top of the skin, the sides, and the bottom of the turkey.
  5. Arrange for Roasting: Place the prepared turkey breast skin side up in a baking pan, ready for roasting.
  6. Roast Turkey: Place the pan in the preheated oven and roast the turkey for approximately 90-100 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165˚F (74˚C), indicating that it's fully cooked and safe to eat.
  7. Baste Occasionally: Rotate the pan during cooking and pour the pan juices over the turkey a few times to promote even cooking and keep the meat juicy.
  8. Rest and Serve: Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest before slicing. This helps redistribute the juices and enhances tenderness.

Notes

  • You can use either dried or fresh thyme and oregano. If using fresh, finely chop them before mixing.
  • Rotating the pan and basting with pan juices during cooking keeps the turkey moist and evenly cooked.
  • Ensure the turkey breast is fully defrosted before seasoning and roasting to cook evenly.
  • Use a food thermometer to check the internal temperature for food safety.
