Description

A decadent and delicious Macaroni and Cheese Pizza combining creamy macaroni and cheese with a crispy pizza crust, topped with a blend of cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan, and crispy bacon for a comforting and unique twist on traditional pizza.

Ingredients

Pizza Crust

  • 1 lb. pizza dough
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Fresh cracked pepper, to taste
  • Cornmeal for dusting the pizza pan

Toppings

  • 2 cups macaroni and cheese (prepared)
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 5 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • Grated Parmesan, for garnish
  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the pizza.
  2. Prepare Dough: Roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness and place it on a pizza pan that has been dusted with cornmeal to prevent sticking and add texture.
  3. Season Crust: Mix olive oil with dried oregano and garlic powder, then spread this mixture evenly over the pizza dough. Bake the crust for 5-8 minutes until it begins to show golden brown spots and the olive oil has mostly absorbed.
  4. Mix Cheese and Mac & Cheese: Combine all the shredded cheeses together and fold about half of this mixture into the prepared macaroni and cheese to create a cheesy topping.
  5. Add Mac and Cheese to Crust: Spread the macaroni and cheese mixture evenly over the pre-baked pizza crust.
  6. Top with Remaining Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese on top of the macaroni layer. Season lightly with salt and fresh cracked pepper.
  7. Bake First Stage: Bake the pizza for approximately 5 minutes until the cheese starts to melt.
  8. Add Bacon: Remove the pizza and evenly distribute the crumbled bacon strips over the cheese layer.
  9. Bake Final Stage: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the crust edges turn a dark golden brown and macaroni and cheese is heated through.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with fresh chopped parsley and grated Parmesan. Slice and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use fresh macaroni and cheese or leftovers; ensure it is not too runny to avoid soggy pizza.
  • The bacon adds a smoky, crispy texture but can be omitted or substituted with a vegetarian alternative.
  • Adjust salt and pepper seasoning based on the saltiness of your cheeses and bacon.
  • For extra crispy crust, consider pre-baking a bit longer before adding toppings.
  • Use cornmeal on the pizza pan for easy removal and a crunchy bottom crust.
