Ingredients
Pizza Crust
- 1 lb. pizza dough
- 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Fresh cracked pepper, to taste
- Cornmeal for dusting the pizza pan
Toppings
- 2 cups macaroni and cheese (prepared)
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 5 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
- Grated Parmesan, for garnish
- Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the pizza.
- Prepare Dough: Roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness and place it on a pizza pan that has been dusted with cornmeal to prevent sticking and add texture.
- Season Crust: Mix olive oil with dried oregano and garlic powder, then spread this mixture evenly over the pizza dough. Bake the crust for 5-8 minutes until it begins to show golden brown spots and the olive oil has mostly absorbed.
- Mix Cheese and Mac & Cheese: Combine all the shredded cheeses together and fold about half of this mixture into the prepared macaroni and cheese to create a cheesy topping.
- Add Mac and Cheese to Crust: Spread the macaroni and cheese mixture evenly over the pre-baked pizza crust.
- Top with Remaining Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese on top of the macaroni layer. Season lightly with salt and fresh cracked pepper.
- Bake First Stage: Bake the pizza for approximately 5 minutes until the cheese starts to melt.
- Add Bacon: Remove the pizza and evenly distribute the crumbled bacon strips over the cheese layer.
- Bake Final Stage: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the crust edges turn a dark golden brown and macaroni and cheese is heated through.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with fresh chopped parsley and grated Parmesan. Slice and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use fresh macaroni and cheese or leftovers; ensure it is not too runny to avoid soggy pizza.
- The bacon adds a smoky, crispy texture but can be omitted or substituted with a vegetarian alternative.
- Adjust salt and pepper seasoning based on the saltiness of your cheeses and bacon.
- For extra crispy crust, consider pre-baking a bit longer before adding toppings.
- Use cornmeal on the pizza pan for easy removal and a crunchy bottom crust.
