Description

This Starbucks copycat recipe recreates the refreshing Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, combining rich espresso shots shaken to a frothy texture with a homemade brown sugar cinnamon syrup and creamy oatmilk. It's a perfect balanced iced coffee drink with a hint of vanilla and warm cinnamon, ideal for coffee lovers seeking a sweet, dairy-free treat that can be made quickly at home.

Ingredients

Brown Sugar Syrup

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar (or light brown sugar)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Espresso Drink

  • 3 ounces espresso (approximately 3 shots)
  • 3 to 4 ounces full fat oatmilk (such as Oatly)
  • Ice cubes (for serving)
  • 1 teaspoon homemade brown sugar syrup (for serving, adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Make Brown Sugar Syrup: Microwave the water until boiling, or bring it to a boil on the stove in a small pan. Remove from heat and stir in the brown sugar until fully dissolved. Add cinnamon and vanilla extract, stirring well; the cinnamon will remain suspended.
  2. Shake Espresso: Pour 3 ounces of freshly brewed espresso into a cocktail shaker or a mason jar with a tight-fitting lid. Shake vigorously to create a frothy texture.
  3. Prepare Glass: Fill a tall serving glass with ice cubes.
  4. Assemble Drink: Strain the shaken espresso over the ice in the glass. Pour 1 teaspoon of the homemade brown sugar syrup over the espresso and adjust sweetness to your preference. Add 3 to 4 ounces of full fat oatmilk on top. Stir gently if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • The brown sugar syrup can be stored refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
  • Adjust the amount of syrup to control sweetness based on your taste.
  • Using full fat oatmilk provides a creamy texture similar to Starbucks' version.
  • For a more intense cinnamon flavor, sprinkle a pinch on top before serving.
  • If you don't have espresso shots, strong brewed coffee can be used but the flavor will be less robust.
