Ingredients
Tea Base
- 4 cups water
- 6 bags black tea
Additional Ingredients
- 4 cups water (cold)
- 1/3 cup sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
- Ice cubes (for serving)
- Lemon slices (optional, for garnish)
- Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Boil Water and Steep Tea: In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and add the black tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for 10 minutes to extract full flavor.
- Sweeten Tea (Optional): Remove the tea bags carefully. If you prefer a sweetened iced tea, add 1/3 cup of sugar or your preferred sweetener into the hot tea and stir thoroughly until completely dissolved.
- Combine with Cold Water: Pour in the remaining 4 cups of cold water to the tea mixture to dilute and cool it down slightly.
- Chill: Transfer the tea to the refrigerator and chill for about one hour or until fully cold.
- Serve: Serve the iced tea over ice cubes. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves if desired for an extra refreshing touch.
Notes
- Adjust the steeping time for stronger or lighter tea depending on your preference.
- Sugar is optional; you can substitute with honey, agave syrup, or sugar alternatives to suit dietary needs.
- The recipe yields 6 servings, perfect for sharing at gatherings or for family refreshment.
- For a caffeine-free option, consider using herbal tea bags instead of black tea.
- Always use cold water to top up the tea after steeping to avoid overly strong or hot iced tea.
