Description
A flavorful and easy-to-make Honey Garlic Shrimp, Sausage, and Broccoli stir-fry, combining succulent shrimp marinated in a sweet and tangy honey garlic sauce, savory kielbasa sausage, and tender broccoli florets, served over fluffy white rice for a balanced and delicious meal.
Ingredients
Sauce:
- ⅓ cup (133 g) honey
- ⅓ cup (85 g) soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Main Ingredients:
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled, deveined, tails removed
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
- 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 ring (13 ounces) kielbasa sausage, sliced into ½-inch rounds
For Serving and Garnish:
- Cooked white rice, for serving
- Parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Make sauce. In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes until fully combined to create the marinade and cooking sauce.
- Marinate shrimp. Place the peeled and deveined shrimp in a large zip-top bag. Pour in one-third of the sauce, reserving the rest. Seal the bag, remove excess air, and gently massage to coat the shrimp evenly. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes, up to 2 hours, to let the flavors infuse.
- Cook broccoli. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir occasionally, cooking until tender, about 5 minutes. Transfer the cooked broccoli to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
- Cook sausage. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa sausage and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes.
- Cook shrimp. Add the marinated shrimp to the skillet with the sausage; discard the marinade that was in the bag. Cook the shrimp for 1-2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are cooked through.
- Simmer sauce. Pour the reserved sauce into the skillet with the shrimp and sausage. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce and thicken slightly.
- Combine broccoli and toss. Add the cooked broccoli back into the skillet and toss everything together until the shrimp, sausage, and broccoli are evenly coated in the sauce.
- Serve. Spoon the honey garlic shrimp, sausage, and broccoli mixture over cooked white rice and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Marinating the shrimp enhances the flavor, but do not exceed 2 hours as the acid can start to cook the shrimp.
- Use freshly minced garlic for the best flavor in the sauce.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level or omit for a milder dish.
- Kielbasa can be substituted with other smoked sausages if desired.
- Ensure shrimp are cooked just until opaque to avoid toughness.
- Broccoli can be steamed briefly before sautéing for a softer texture if desired.
