Description

Healthy Dirt Cups are a fun and nutritious dessert that combines creamy avocado chocolate pudding with crunchy granola and playful gummy worms. This recipe is dairy-free, naturally sweetened, and perfect for a kid-friendly treat or a guilt-free indulgence. Ready in just 40 minutes, it offers a unique way to enjoy a chocolate dessert with wholesome ingredients.

Ingredients

Avocado Pudding

  • 2 cups mashed avocado (about 4 medium avocados)
  • ½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (plus more if needed)
  • 5 Tablespoons cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup maple syrup or honey (plus more if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings

  • ½ cup homemade or store-bought chocolate granola
  • 12 organic gummy worms

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pudding: Add mashed avocado, almond milk, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and vanilla extract into a food processor or high-powered blender. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth without any visible avocado pieces. Use a spatula to scrape the sides as needed. If the pudding is too thick, gradually add more almond milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired creamy pudding consistency is achieved. Taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary.
  2. Chill the Pudding: Divide the pudding evenly into four serving cups. Place them in the refrigerator to chill for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the texture to firm up slightly.
  3. Prepare the Granola Topping: While the pudding chills, crush the chocolate granola to resemble dirt. Use a food processor or place the granola in a plastic bag and crush it gently with the bottom of a glass. Crushing the granola enhances the dirt cup effect but is optional.
  4. Assemble the Dirt Cups: Once the pudding is chilled, sprinkle the crushed granola evenly on top of each pudding cup. Add three organic gummy worms per cup, placing some worms partially inside the pudding and some on top to create a fun, playful presentation.
  5. Serve and Store: Serve the dirt cups immediately for best texture and freshness. If storing, keep the avocado pudding separate from the granola and gummy worms in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days to prevent the toppings from becoming soggy.

Notes

  • You can substitute honey for maple syrup if preferred.
  • Use organic gummy worms to avoid artificial dyes and additives.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your taste, adding additional sweetener if needed.
  • If you don’t have vanilla almond milk, any unsweetened plant-based milk will work.
  • The pudding is best enjoyed fresh but can be refrigerated separately for up to 3 days.
  • Crushing the granola is optional but helps create the dirt-like texture.
