Description

This Easy Sauteed Mushrooms recipe features tender baby Bella mushrooms cooked to golden perfection with garlic, a touch of heat from chili flakes, and fresh parsley. Cooked quickly on the stovetop, this flavorful side dish combines olive oil and simple seasonings to create a delicious, savory complement to any meal.

Ingredients

Vegetables

  • 1 pound baby Bella mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp fresh parsley, minced

Seasonings

  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt (additional)
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)

Oils

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Saute garlic: Heat 1/4 cup olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add sliced garlic and cook until golden, about 2 minutes. Remove the garlic from the pan and set aside to prevent burning.
  2. Cook mushrooms: Increase heat to medium-high and add sliced mushrooms to the pan. Saute for 1-2 minutes until they start to soften. Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt to encourage moisture release. Continue cooking for about 3 minutes until the mushrooms release their water, then cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until they are nicely browned.
  3. Season and finish: Season the mushrooms with the remaining 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, chili flakes if using, and minced parsley. Turn off the heat and drizzle 1-2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil on top. If desired, add the reserved cooked garlic back into the pan for extra flavor. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a milder garlic flavor, remove the garlic as soon as it turns golden to prevent bitterness.
  • Adjust chili flakes according to your preferred spice level or omit if sensitive to heat.
  • Use fresh parsley for the best vibrant flavor; dried parsley can be substituted but reduce quantity to 1 tablespoon.
  • Best served immediately but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
