Ingredients
Espresso
- ¼ cup espresso (very strong coffee, equals 2 shots/ounces)
Strawberry Syrup
- 1 cup sliced strawberries (about 140g)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 cup water
For Serving
- 2 cups milk of choice (oat milk recommended)
- Ice cubes, to taste
- Optional toppings: freeze-dried strawberries, whipped cream, coffee creamer, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup
Instructions
- Make Espresso: Brew ¼ cup of very strong espresso using a coffee machine or preferred method. Set aside to cool completely before using.
- Prepare Strawberry Syrup: In a small pan, combine 1 cup sliced strawberries, ¼ cup granulated sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional), and 1 cup water.
- Simmer Mixture: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer gently for 15-20 minutes until it thickens into a syrup-like consistency and the strawberries have softened.
- Strain Syrup: Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve without pressing the solids to ensure a smooth, seed-free strawberry syrup.
- Assemble Drink: Fill a glass with ice cubes according to your preference. Pour in the prepared strawberry syrup over the ice.
- Add Espresso and Milk: Pour the cooled espresso over the strawberry syrup, then top with 2 cups of your milk of choice (such as oat milk).
- Optional Garnish: Enhance your iced latte with toppings like freeze-dried strawberries, whipped cream, coffee creamer, chocolate syrup, or caramel syrup if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
- Ensure espresso is cooled completely before assembling to keep the drink refreshingly cold.
- Do not press strawberry pulp through the sieve to maintain a smooth syrup.
- Adjust amount of strawberry syrup and milk to taste for desired sweetness and creaminess.
- Use milk alternatives like oat, almond, or soy milk to suit dietary preferences.
- Optional vanilla extract enhances the flavor but can be omitted.
