Description

These Easy Air Fryer Apple Chips are a healthy and delicious snack made by thinly slicing apples and seasoning them with cinnamon and nutmeg before air frying to crispy perfection. Ready in just 25 minutes, they're a perfect guilt-free treat for any time of the day.

Ingredients

Apples

  • 2 gala apples (or any apple variety you prefer)

Seasoning & Oil

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons coconut oil (melted)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Wash the apples thoroughly and remove the stems. Using a mandolin set to 3mm thickness or a very sharp knife, carefully slice the apples into thin, round chips, keeping the skin intact. Follow safety precautions while slicing.
  2. Remove Seeds: Take out any apple seeds from the slices to ensure a smooth eating experience.
  3. Season the Slices: In a medium bowl or on an extended plate, toss the apple slices evenly with melted coconut oil, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg until each slice is well coated.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 300°F (about 150°C) and allow it to preheat for a few minutes.
  5. Cook in Batches: Place the seasoned apple slices in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping the slices halfway through to ensure even crisping.
  6. Repeat: Continue air frying the remaining apple slices in batches until all are cooked.
  7. Cool and Crisp: Remove the apple chips from the air fryer and place them on a cooling rack. Allow them to cool fully; they will continue to crisp as they cool. If any chips feel damp or soft, place them back into the air fryer for an additional 2 minutes.

Notes

  • Use a mandolin slicer for uniform thin slices; this ensures even cooking and crispiness.
  • Keep the apple skin on for added texture and nutrients.
  • Feel free to experiment with different apple varieties for varying sweetness and tartness.
  • You can adjust the amount of cinnamon and nutmeg to your taste preference.
  • Store cooled apple chips in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
  • If you don’t have coconut oil, substitute with olive oil or any neutral oil.
