Ingredients
For the Mushroom Sauce
- 8 ounces baby bella or cremini mushrooms, thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 ½ teaspoons minced garlic
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
- ¼ teaspoon cracked black pepper, or to taste
Instructions
- Melt Butter: Heat 3 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat until fully melted and hot.
- Sauté Mushrooms and Garlic: Add the thinly sliced mushrooms and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are browned and fragrant.
- Add Liquids and Flavorings: Pour in ½ cup chicken broth and 1 cup heavy cream. Stir in 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon cracked black pepper. Continue cooking the mixture, stirring periodically, for 5 to 8 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes creamy.
- Adjust Seasoning and Serve: Taste the sauce and add additional salt and pepper as needed. Serve the warm mushroom sauce generously over your prepared steak. Optionally, top with extra cracked black pepper for added flavor and presentation.
