Ingredients
Avocado Dip Ingredients
- 2 large avocados, peeled and pitted
- 1 cup (250 ml) sour cream (or to preference; see notes)
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 large handful cilantro/coriander
- 1 fresh jalapeño, deseeded
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Peel and pit the avocados, deseed the jalapeño to reduce heat if desired, and wash the cilantro thoroughly.
- Combine Ingredients: Place the avocados, sour cream, lime juice, cilantro, and jalapeño into a food processor or blender.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blitz the mixture until it reaches a creamy, smooth consistency, scraping down the sides as needed to ensure even blending.
- Season to Taste: Add salt and black pepper as desired, then pulse again briefly to incorporate the seasoning evenly.
- Serve or Chill: Taste the dip and adjust any ingredients if needed. Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to let flavors meld before serving.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of sour cream depending on how creamy or tangy you want the dip.
- To make the dip spicier, leave some or all of the jalapeño seeds in.
- This dip is best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; to prevent browning, cover the surface with plastic wrap directly touching the dip.
- For a vegan version, substitute sour cream with a plant-based alternative like coconut yogurt or cashew cream.
