Description

This creamy avocado dip is a quick and delicious party favorite made with just five fresh ingredients. Blended to smooth perfection, it combines ripe avocados, tangy sour cream, zesty lime juice, and a hint of heat from jalapeño, balanced with fresh cilantro and seasoned to taste. Perfect as a dip for chips or a flavorful spread for sandwiches.

Ingredients

Avocado Dip Ingredients

  • 2 large avocados, peeled and pitted
  • 1 cup (250 ml) sour cream (or to preference; see notes)
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 large handful cilantro/coriander
  • 1 fresh jalapeño, deseeded
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Peel and pit the avocados, deseed the jalapeño to reduce heat if desired, and wash the cilantro thoroughly.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Place the avocados, sour cream, lime juice, cilantro, and jalapeño into a food processor or blender.
  3. Blend Until Smooth: Blitz the mixture until it reaches a creamy, smooth consistency, scraping down the sides as needed to ensure even blending.
  4. Season to Taste: Add salt and black pepper as desired, then pulse again briefly to incorporate the seasoning evenly.
  5. Serve or Chill: Taste the dip and adjust any ingredients if needed. Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to let flavors meld before serving.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of sour cream depending on how creamy or tangy you want the dip.
  • To make the dip spicier, leave some or all of the jalapeño seeds in.
  • This dip is best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; to prevent browning, cover the surface with plastic wrap directly touching the dip.
  • For a vegan version, substitute sour cream with a plant-based alternative like coconut yogurt or cashew cream.
