Description

This Chicken Cordon Bleu Panini Sandwich combines crispy chicken milanese, savory deli ham, and melted Swiss cheese, all pressed between buttered ciabatta rolls with a hint of coarse Dijon mustard. Perfectly grilled in a panini press, this sandwich offers a delicious blend of flavors and textures, served alongside homemade French fries, kale Caesar salad, and white bean salad for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 1 batch chicken milanese (breaded and fried chicken cutlets)
  • 4 ciabatta rolls (or other bread)
  • Butter, for spreading
  • Coarse Dijon mustard, for spreading
  • 1/4 lb thinly sliced Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 lb sliced deli ham

Sides

  • Homemade French fries
  • Kale Caesar salad
  • White bean salad

Instructions

  1. Preheat Panini Press: Set your panini press to high heat to ensure it is hot and ready for grilling when the sandwiches are assembled.
  2. Prepare the Bread: Slice the ciabatta rolls lengthwise to create sandwich halves. Butter the tops and bottoms of each roll to help achieve a crispy, golden exterior when grilled.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich Base: Spread a thin layer of coarse Dijon mustard on the bottom half of each roll. Then layer one slice of Swiss cheese on both the bottom and top halves of the rolls, adding a slice of deli ham on the bottom piece only.
  4. Add the Chicken: Place a piece of prepared chicken milanese onto the bottom half of each sandwich, layering it on top of the ham and cheese.
  5. Grill the Sandwich: Close the sandwich with the top half of the roll and place it in the preheated panini press. Press down firmly and grill for about five minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted completely.
  6. Serve: Remove the sandwiches from the panini press and serve hot alongside homemade French fries, kale Caesar salad, and white bean salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Using ciabatta rolls gives a sturdy structure for grilling, but any crusty bread can work well.
  • The chicken milanese should be cooked beforehand for best results in the panini press.
  • Adjust the amount of mustard according to your taste preference for tanginess.
  • Add additional ingredients like pickles or tomato slices for extra flavor if desired.
  • Ensure the panini press is fully heated for even grilling and melting of the cheese.
