Description
Brazilian Lemonade is a unique and refreshing summer drink made with fresh limes, cold water, granulated sugar, and creamy sweetened condensed milk. Unlike traditional lemonade, this version uses lime slices and sweetened condensed milk to create a sweet, tart, and creamy beverage that's perfect for hot days.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 4 medium-sized limes
- 6 cups cold water, divided
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- Prepare the limes: Thoroughly scrub and wash the limes to remove any pesticides or wax on the peel. Cut off the ends of each lime, then slice each lime into 8 wedges.
- Blend the mixture: Add the lime wedges, 3 cups of cold water, and the granulated sugar to a blender. Pulse several times just to mix and combine the ingredients without over-blending to avoid excessive bitterness from the peel.
- Strain the mixture: Pour the blended lime water through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher, separating the solids from the liquid to achieve a smooth drink.
- Add remaining water and milk: Pour the remaining 3 cups of cold water into the pitcher over the lime liquid. Then add the 6 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk and stir well until fully combined.
- Taste and adjust sweetness: Taste the lemonade and if it is too tart or bitter, add a little more sweetened condensed milk according to your preference, stirring to mix.
- Serve: Pour the Brazilian Lemonade over ice cubes and serve immediately for a refreshing treat.
Notes
- Be careful not to over-blend the lime peels to avoid a bitter taste.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sweetened condensed milk to suit your taste.
- This drink is best served immediately but can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
- Use medium-sized limes for the best balance of tartness and sweetness.
