Description

These Boozy Orange Margarita Truffles combine the creamy texture of white chocolate with a zesty citrus twist and a splash of tequila for an irresistible adult treat. Perfect as a fun party dessert or a unique homemade gift, these truffles balance sweetness with a refreshing hint of lime and orange, all coated in a light dusting of sugar for extra sparkle.

Ingredients

Truffle Mixture

  • 1/3 cup Heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup Tequila
  • 1/4 cup Orange juice
  • 1 Tablespoon Lime juice
  • 2 cups White chocolate chips
  • Zest of one orange

Coating

  • Granulated sugar (for the coating)

Instructions

  1. Warm the Cream and Orange Zest: Combine the orange zest and heavy cream in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Warm the mixture carefully for about 5 minutes, stirring often, ensuring it does not come to a boil, to infuse the cream with citrus flavor.
  2. Melt the White Chocolate: Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the white chocolate chips. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Add Citrus Juices and Tequila: Stir in the orange juice, lime juice, and tequila thoroughly, combining all flavors evenly throughout the white chocolate mixture.
  4. Chill the Mixture: Pour the blended mixture into an airtight plastic container with a lid and refrigerate for 2-3 hours, or until it is firm yet soft enough to scoop.
  5. Shape the Truffles: Once chilled, use a small cookie scoop or spoon to portion the mixture, then roll each portion gently into a ball with your hands.
  6. Coat with Sugar: Roll each ball lightly in granulated sugar, then place them on a lined baking sheet to keep them separated.
  7. Final Chill: Return the coated truffles to the refrigerator and chill for an additional hour to set properly before serving.

Notes

  • Do not let the cream boil as it can curdle and affect the smoothness of the truffles.
  • You can substitute white chocolate chips with white chocolate bars chopped into small pieces for better melting consistency.
  • For a stronger alcohol flavor, slightly increase the tequila quantity, but avoid adding too much to keep the mixture firm.
  • Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within one week for best freshness.
  • If you want a sharper orange flavor, add a little more orange zest to the cream while warming.
