Description

Crispy and flavorful Bang Bang Salmon Bites are a quick and delicious appetizer or main dish, featuring tender chunks of salmon roasted to perfection and tossed in a spicy, sweet, and tangy homemade bang bang sauce. With just 20 minutes from start to finish, this recipe delivers a perfect balance of creamy mayo, chili heat, garlic, and a hint of honey, making it an irresistible dish for gatherings or a tasty weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Salmon Bites

  • 2 lbs Salmon Filet
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 2 tsp Garlic Paste
  • Garlic Salt (to taste)
  • Black Pepper (to taste)

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 3/4 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup Thai Sweet Chili Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • 1 clove Garlic (grated or minced)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it's hot enough for roasting and broiling the salmon bites.
  2. Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon dry and carefully remove the skin by making a cut between the skin and flesh, gently pulling the skin away. Trim any leftover bits of skin to ensure clean pieces.
  3. Cut the salmon: Slice the skinless salmon into 1 to 1.5 inch chunks and transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
  4. Mix seasoning mayo: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, and garlic paste, mixing until smooth. Season the salmon chunks with garlic salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Coat the salmon: Pour the seasoned mayo mixture over the salmon pieces and toss to coat all bites evenly. Arrange the coated salmon in a single layer on a baking sheet, spacing pieces 1 to 2 inches apart to allow for proper crisping.
  6. Roast and broil: Roast the salmon bites for 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Then switch to broil for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, watching closely to avoid burning.
  7. Prepare bang bang sauce: While salmon cooks, whisk together mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, soy sauce, honey, and minced garlic in a bowl until smooth and well combined.
  8. Serve: Once the salmon bites are done, drizzle the bang bang sauce generously over the top and serve immediately for a spicy, creamy bite.

Notes

  • Ensure the salmon is fully thawed if using frozen for best texture and ease of skin removal.
  • Do not overcrowd the baking sheet to help the salmon get crispy and cook evenly.
  • Watch carefully during broiling to prevent burning as the salmon can brown quickly.
  • Adjust the Sriracha amount in the sauce to modify the spice level according to your preference.
  • This recipe pairs well with steamed rice or a fresh salad for a fuller meal.
