Description

Enjoy a tropical escape with the Bahama Mama smoothie, a refreshing and vibrant blend of frozen orange and pineapple juices, coconut water, and rums, perfect for a quick and easy island-inspired drink. This smoothie is blended to smooth perfection with a splash of grenadine for sweetness and garnished with pineapple and cherries for a festive touch.

Ingredients

Liquid Ingredients

  • 1 x 12 ounce container frozen orange juice
  • 1 x 12 ounce container frozen pineapple juice
  • 1 x 17 ounce can coconut water (or 2 cups plain water)
  • 6 ounces white rum
  • 6 ounces coconut rum
  • 6 ounces grenadine

Flavoring and Extras

  • 1 teaspoon coconut extract
  • 2 cups ice
  • Pineapple slices and cherries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blend Juice and Rums: Add the frozen orange juice, frozen pineapple juice, coconut water (or plain water), white rum, coconut rum, and coconut extract into the pitcher of a blender. Blend these ingredients together until the mixture is perfectly smooth and combined.
  2. Add Ice and Blend: Next, add the ice to the blender. Blend the mixture again until the ice is fully crushed and the smoothie has a thick, icy consistency.
  3. Serve and Garnish: Pour the blended smoothie into glasses. Carefully drizzle about one ounce of grenadine down the side of each glass to create a beautiful layered effect. Garnish each glass with a pineapple slice and a cherry if desired, then serve immediately for a refreshing tropical treat.

Notes

  • The grenadine is added last to create a layered, visually appealing drink; avoid blending it to preserve the effect.
  • If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the rums for a delicious tropical smoothie.
  • Use frozen juice concentrates for a thicker and colder smoothie consistency.
  • Adjust the amount of ice to achieve your preferred thickness.
  • For extra tropical flavor, try adding a splash of lime juice or a handful of fresh pineapple chunks.
