Description

Celebrate the 4th of July with this festive and refreshing layered drink featuring bright red, white, and blue colors. Combining Cherry 7 Up, grenadine, classic 7 Up, and blue Gatorade, this drink is perfect for summer gatherings and adds a playful patriotic touch to your festivities.

Ingredients

Drinks

  • 1.5 cups Cherry 7 Up
  • 1/4 cup Grenadine
  • 2 cups 7 Up
  • 2 cups Blue Gatorade or Powerade

Other

  • Ice, as needed
  • 4 maraschino cherries

Instructions

  1. Pour Cherry 7 Up: Pour about 3 tablespoons of Cherry 7 Up into the bottom of each of the glasses, filling them just a little bit of the way.
  2. Add Grenadine: Add 1 tablespoon of Grenadine to each cup, and stir it gently into the Cherry 7 Up to mix the flavors.
  3. Add Ice: Fill each glass to the top with ice, preparing the base for the layered effect.
  4. Pour 7 Up slowly: Using a metal spoon, pour the 7 Up very slowly over the back of the spoon so it drips gently down onto the ice and Cherry 7 Up, dividing it evenly between the 4 glasses. This helps fill them to between half and two-thirds full without mixing the layers.
  5. Pour Blue Gatorade: Repeat the slow pouring technique with the Blue Gatorade, layering it on top carefully until the glasses are almost full, maintaining distinct color layers.
  6. Garnish and serve: Top each glass with a maraschino cherry and add a fun paper straw if desired. Serve immediately for best presentation and enjoyment.

Notes

  • Pour liquids slowly over the back of a spoon to keep the layers from mixing.
  • Use a metal spoon for better control during pouring.
  • If you prefer less sweetness, adjust the amount of grenadine or Gatorade accordingly.
  • Serve immediately to maintain the striking layered appearance.
  • Can be made with other citrus sodas or sports drinks for different flavor variations.
